31 DAYS OF WAR MOVIES | 1. JOYEUX NOEL (2005) | WWI
Tonight, these men were drawn to that altar like it was a fire in the middle of winter. Even those who arent devout came to warm themselves.
Horstmayer: Sorry, but- why do you have an alarm that goes off every morning at ten-o-clock? Is it for a changing of the guard?
Audebert: Oh, no. No, no, it’s just that my aide-de-camp used to have coffee every morning at ten with his mother. He is worried he will forget about all that with the war. We’ve just got used to it.
Gordon: So have we.

Joyeux Noël (2005)
Showing your wish to let the enemy know you are humans, just like them through singing the same melody.
This movie has instantly become one of my favorites.
How can you still kill the man in front of you, just because he has a different coloured uniform, when you have just tasted how human he is? Same feelings, same common urge to run home to your loved ones.
Dying after the Christmas truce, is even more senseless than it was to die the day before.
